Went to Fisher Bay yesterday for the first time since '97. I took the cut across from Brown's. It was a long no-wake area, but not horrible. (It was nice to slow it down and take in the scenery.)

Was very cool to see that many boats back in there again. Quite a few 40+ footers. We ended up almost directly centered in the bay, about 200 ft from the shore. The water was waist-deep, temp was comfortable and the floor was mostly sandy & fairly firm.

The one thing that was bizarre, was the color of the sand. It had a strange orange/red/brown tint to it. Almost like the surface of Mars!! Was pretty cool though.

Will definitely be making that a 'go-to' spot for the rest of the season.

Kemper and I were rafted up there Saturday afternoon (after the storm hit)
It was cool to be back there with the big boats, but in the high winds of the storm, my anchors (plural) didn't grab very well in the silt/sand...I think I need to explore the area a little better and find some firmer sand (if there is any)

I took the big boat through the snake (not canoe) cut to get into the bay...readings of no less than 6' the whole way!

Slow ride, but was very comfortable!

The kido's and I made it up there on Saturday. Good little trip all the way back there from GP. Made it up there just in time for the storm. Had to Wait to tie up to my sister vessel (musky47) and ride out the storm at a safe distance. I came up from Goose. Below is my track. 3'-6" was the shallowest I came across. Came off plain in the back of Goose given it was uncharted. Could have stayed on plan. I spotted those humps from the fly bridge TropicAL mentioned in a previous thread. They were just past the entrance by Big Fisher Hwy. coming in from Goose. Bottom was a bit silty where we were. Probably needed to be closer and over more NE. Kido's had a great time. A bit wind though and a nice little chop late in the day headed back to GP

We were tied up there yesterday afternoon. Water is great- temperature actually feels good for swimming.

I think the increase in traffic and the amount of deeper draft boats chugging around the bay this year is stirring up the silt and sand, giving it that brownish color. Water is clean though and the bottom, for the most part, is nice. Cool to see some big boats back there. The flurry of activity in and around the flats this year is something I haven't seen in a very long time.

Lots of traffic in the cuts these days so play it safe and slow down, especially if there is a line of boats ahead of you that are at no-wake speed. There just isn't enough room to go flying by people in those areas where visibility is low.

Been in Fisher multiple times this year. This was our last path leaving Longpoint across Fisher. All but the beginning and end was on plane without the slightest issue.

Yep.. plenty deep.
I didn't make it to Fishers on Saturday... got a call from a friend and wound up at Metro (LSCMP) all day. Got that call on my way down the Snye.. and wound up just going out the end of the Snye to Metro. You have to swing wide of the shallows just east of Strawberry, but I was puttin' along at about 8mph (a little bit of wake) and never had the depth finder scream once (it screams @ <4'). So there's likely pretty much 4-5' the whole way on that route too. (My finder is just shy of a foot below my waterline and the unit does not show that extra foot)

BTW... the Sheriff has written plenty of tickets in the past for reckless driving for those who insist on flying past other boats doing "no-wake" speed in the cuts. Some of the larger boats coming through can't make it along the edges of the cuts w/o hitting bottom.. give 'em a little room.

RE: Storm... At Metro, we only had a few drops of rain and some nice breezes.. no storm! We watched it form up and build just north of us (I was thinking MacRay's got pretty wet) and then roll out onto the lake. Even got a call from the wife (who was in Fair Haven).. it was storming bad by her and she thought I was out in it.

The water was quite nasty in Fisher yesterday. Tons of brown cotton like funk floating on and in it. We just went for a boat ride instead of a swim.

We where there last Saturday and yes it was not all that clear. I thought maybe it was the storm that blew through. Also it was mentioned they did a big burn out there recently and maybe that could be a factor

Last Saturday in Fisher Bay

Last Sunday down in polluted GP

I was a great time and neat place to visit but I would say I was expecting a bit nicer water. I am sure it varies like most of the lake with wind, boat traffic and time of year

I was quite surprised yesterday that the water was so clear and blue/green in the Moot and Little Moot. First time ever in Little Moot but I've only been in Big Moot when it's already been stirred up by boats.

Finally made it back into Fisher yesterday. About 100 yards off the very back of the back into the reeds, ~ 3' deep, nice clear water, and just a tiny bit of silt on top of sand.

Still had a 6" chop due to the strong south wind!

I was gonn'a head out there yesterday too (solo), but last time I was out there in strong wind I likely would've had to cut the anchor rode as I was not strong enough to pull the anchor up with the wind buffeting the boat so bad. Luckily the wife was with me that day and I had her get most of the rode on the front deck as I drove up to the anchor. Didn't want to chance the same thing happening w/o help aboard. Love my Fortress anchor, but it sure digs in hard/deep when yanked on!!!
