Hello everyone this is your old friend Cory with this weeks fishing report. Sorry about last week by the time i got to the office it was too late to send one out.
Well, walleye have been really productive out from Metro Beach and By the St. Clair light. Out from Metro Beach about 1 ½ miles in appr. 12-14 foot of water. Many boats are drifting with crawler harnesses still. Colors are various including pearl, white, hammered copper, and chartruese. The pearl and white harnesses have been doing the best, but most of them have a red dot or a striped on them.
At the St. Clair light the same color harnesses are being used to catch walleye and perch. The depths range from 13-16 feet in this area. Boats are mainly north of the light by a few hundred yards and are drifting.
Perch have also been productive off of the mouth of the Clinton River just off of the end of South River Rd. Drifting with crawler harnesses, colors previously distinguished. The depths here are 7-10 feet. Perch are also being caught out by the St. Clair light with crawlers and minnows. Sailboat buoy S is a popular spot to be. Limits have come in from here so the fish are there.
From 13 mile Rd. down to 9 mile Rd. smallmouth bass have been very productive. Many boats have been working the shore just north of the coast guard station and the sunken island off of 10 mile. This island is around 5-7 feet deep with weeds around it. Casting over these weeds with tubes and spinners have been the most commonly used method.
As far as pike and muskie, there are not any reports from the American side right now. Most of the muskie are being caught on the Canadian side near the Thymes River. Pike have been caught around Fords Cove.
Hopefully this helps and good luck this week, the weather should be great. Thanks Cory.
