Don't know if anyone has kids at Graham Elementary, but if you do this is pretty interesting. I had a friend just email me about this Graham Parent Club Embezzelment. Can't believe nobody has the stones to prosecute.
The only legitimate reason I can think of for not prosecuting is the huge legal fees involved. In this economy I'm sure the school district is pinching pennies.
From what I've heard, the person is paying back what they could prove, about $15,000. That's what they could find. Most of the money was cash from kids and parents that don't have a lot to begin with. She has an agreement with the district that they would not prosecute, but from what I understand she can still be prosecuted if someone outside of the school's payroll wants to make it happen.
I saw something about this on the news, they were having a bottle drive to replace some of the funds.
I believe it was the principle they interviewed, he was very lighthearted and said what a good thing it was the community was coming together and trying to recoup some of the money lost. He was almost cheerful never metioned what happened, I could not believe how they said nothing about the crime just how nice it was that everyone was pulling together. I thought it was odd.

Lighthearted? Perhaps the reason you found it odd is because the principal out to be disciplined for failing to properly audit and control the budget of the parent association--that is one of his many jobs.
What a sad situation. I just read about this today. I used to work with this girl when I was a part of the Graham PTO. I would have never expected her to have done something like this. I actually feel sorry for her.
