One of our members, whose identity was asked to be withheld, (that's why I'M posting this!) has asked your opinion in his re-naming his new business!!

His current idea for a name is HOOKERS on the River ! Before freaking out, consider the LOGO will have a big fish with a hook in it's mouth, or something similar.

Whatcha think?

With enough member participation, he is talking DISCOUNTS and SPECIAL LSCN PARTIES!!

QUOTE(pauligan @ Mar 12 2003, 04:43 PM)Negative on the hookers name.... you actually want girls in there, right?
Think about it, though!
Girls are running around w/f-ck'n PORNSTAR across their boobs!
A T-shirt w/HOOKERS on the back would be KEWL!!

first impressions, baby!!

The idea does GROW on you... **liking the T-shirt idea** but with a brand new investment not sure a name like that wouldn't turn away potential first time patrons--or elderly folk. Even "establishments" like Players, Jon Jons, etc have normal names, ya know?

Folks have tried the hot new sports bar or singles joint idea and failed - Club Capri is on my mind. They took a good steady family dining / bar and ruined it, and went out of business to boot.

Pauligan is the only one making sense on this - don't choose a name that will turn alot of people off. Sure, your Beevis and Butthead types get a kick out of anything that smacks of sex, but are they the majority? Hell, maybe they are - what do I know about attracting the right crowd to a watering hole?

Better ask a few people who do own bars about what you need to do, dollarwise, to make it. Restauarants and bars are about the toughest businesses you can get into and there's alot more to it than plopping down the first payment and opening the door to your buddies.

As for a name, pick anything nautical that's not already being used. But leave the sexual innuendos for the biker bars.

i do like 'hookers river shack'

how about 'whiskey rivers inn' or 'whiskey beach' ?

a wise bar owner once said 'the best thing to name your place is something with an easy name, then a noun. people tend to go to places that make them feel comforatble just saying it, like 'i'm going to bob's' or 'hey! let's go to ernie's!'

just a tip from me to you.
