The main reason that you see big swings in the water temp is due to the constant influx of cold water coming out of the channels. The water temp in the channels is still only in the high 50's, maybe 60. Depending on the wind and the currents in the lake, that cold water gets moved around. By the time it reaches the D. river it is nearly 70 degrees.
