Could anyone tell me if it is legal to fish with hair flies that you would use for River trout fishing , the ones that I am talking about are big with weight added to the front . A guy from work uses them to catch suckers in the bays. As long as i am using my spinning gear is this legal to use in the BFL's.

Your talking about a hair Jig correct?

I used to use hair Jigs for smallies with some success over the years. As far as I know there is no rules in any organization against hair jigs. I do know that some organizations have rules against flies and fly rod use but hair jigs do not fall into that catagory.

Yes, the rule concerning fly rods is just that, for fly rods. You can use a fly, rabbit hair, maribou, etc. as long as it is used on a lure that is tied on a spinning combo or baitcasting combo.

Hair jigs I love them the best is Fox Squirrel ¼ oz with black ball head jig. What's great that you can get them on any highway in all colors and textures called ROAD KILL.
