Got the boat out down here on Erie this morning. I felt like I was in the Arctic; when we came out of the boat launch about 500 yards in front of us was a 10ft tall 1/4 mile long iceberg. I should of took a picture it was pretty awesome! Managed to get a line wet too!! Its been a long winter!

Kind of nice to get your mind off everything thats going on too

I saw someone fishing the mouth of the Clinton yesterday about noon in a Whaler. Won't be long for me now, batteries are installed.

i went out on saturday and sunday on kent lake. not on my boat, just off shore. on the south end of the lake, just south of the express way, kent lake dumps into island lake via the river. there is good depth right off shore and great structure and cover ( big boulders, stumps, fallen trees, river channel, nice weedline) i fished a 1/4 jig and pig very slow with no luck. also tried suspending deadstick rogue with no luck. threw a mojo rigged lizard and dragged it very slow with no luck. didnt much matter. it was great to be fishing again. plus i got to use my new rod and reel, i got more practice on pitching, and got to see some new lures in action. hopefully i can get back out there today. the area i am fishing holds fish right after iceout. i think they will be moving towards the wood and rocks soon. maybe a few more warm days and the smallmouth will get hungry

went out again last night. same spot. same results. took some temp readings. the river bottom was 43*f and the surface was 39* f. dont know how accurate this is because i was using the temp guage from an aqua vu camera and had nothing else to compare it to. thought maybe the sun would have warmed the shore line rocks enough to bring in a few fish. but again no luck. wont be long tho. mosquitos are alreay buzzing.
