Hey has anyone used Dennis Biel for a marine survey? We are looking at a boat and will need a survey, I found him in the directory here on LSCN.

I used him and know of others who have. He is very detailed and the insurance company I go through was very pleased to accept his survey when I insured my boat. I would use him again. Good Luck with your purchase.
He offered a lot of information when I spoke with him. I was pretty confident in him when I finished with our conversation.
I used Dennis this spring for a survey. I give him my highest recommendation. Very thorough and a lot of information. I was there during the survey and learned a lot. Good luck.

I used him for my survey in the spring this year . . . he did an awesome job, and basically gave me a class on what his job and the boat was all about, from functionality to State of Michigan, and USCG rules.

If you have the time to listen to his run down its great but it can take a while (he was with me for almost 3 hrs), he also can survey a boat in a reasonable amount of time (~ 60-90 mins) if you don't get the bonus class!

Good luck on the survey!
I have used Dennis and recommend him highly , he does great work and I know many who are happy with his services
Thought I might add a bit to the discussion. This spring I was buying a boat now named "Leucothea". I asked on this forum who was a good, no nonsense surveyor in the area. Fortunately "pquest29" and "dos mangos" gave me the recommendation they now are giving you. It was great advice. I posted later that I would look no further than Dennis Biel for a survey. He loves what he does and is very good at it. I now make a recommendation based on my own experience. Dennis will survey any boat I purchase in the future. Interesting how it comes back around. Again, good luck.
Thanks for the feedback. We are going for a sea trial today, and if things look good will be calling Dennis in for a survey.

Thanks again.
Well, we made an offer last week and after a weekend of thinking he accepted our offer this morning. So I put a call in to Dennis this morning. Waiting to hear if he will be able to get a survey done for us in the next few days. Hopefully if everything goes well, we will be on our way to a new (used) boat.

It would be nice to make it out to the air show this weekend.
