Two nights ago the sky was full of them in New Baltimore. They've been hatching for more than a week so I think they'll be in full swing for another week or so.

I expected the Voice to have the headline "Fishflies Mar Fishfly Festival".

something else was hatching last night around 10pm along with the fish flies. Some sort of small white colored insect - not up on my bugs. So thick it looked like it was snowing. Think I ate quite a few. Finally chased us off the water around 10:30. Started fishing around 8, boated 6 walleye and 4 nice perch - one 14 inch jumbo.

Did the white bugs look kind of like small moth/butterflies with 2 tiny 'hairs' coming off their tales?

I think the flies you're seeing are white caddis. When stationary, this fly folds its wings over its back like a tightly rolled up newspaper or like a pup tent. Also, it has two rather long, prominent antennae. I saw more of the white caddis this morning near Harley Ensign than I did the hex may flies.
