Just wanted to let you all know that the South Marina is officially closed.

Area51, Secret Agent and I were on the dingy last night and saw that they had the area fenced off and started taking up all the in ground picnic tables. Looks like they will be leveling the whole area. Cannot wait to see what the new building will look like.

Just an FYI.

Has anyone else heard when the Marina reopens it will be run by the DNR since the State of Michigan is doing the funding. This will mean higher rates and only daily rates, no more partials. Also does that mean the Pump Out Station is also closed for the season??

Thanks for the heads up, Convincor.

Typical Government type decisions!
Ignorant!

They would be smarter to wait until fall now!!!!!
Think of the lost revenue! Wait they don't have to, do they float on our dime?

Example:
it is like a person who has a bad heart, but on meds, containing issue, until heart is available, then deciding to open up the patient for open heart surgery, without a donor heart, and wait then....
Just a plain bad, poor decision.

Having the DNR run the park might not be such a bad idea.... The State run marina in StClair on the St. Clair river is a nice facility & well run.... Think about it... You pay for a well for Friday-Sunday & No-one else can take it if you decide to go for a ride unlike how it is now... You pay & leave for a ride
& someone else has your spot when you come back....

I agree... I always thought the "partial day" along the seawall was fine, folks come and go there. But wells should be for the day or perhaps they can do one area of the docks on a "partial day." If you want to spend the weekend there, you should be able to run the boat over to the CR for dinner and back w/o losing your well. It works that way at almost any other marina, public or not.

Spoke to the hire up at Metro. Next year you will be able to rent the well in advance on line even months in advance and then show up and take it. This could suck as people come and go or even pay in advance then there boat breaks and the well sites empty and no one comes or uses it. Imagine some one like Hammer could get his well VIA the internet while driving over.
