The First of our 3 Federation Nation Classic Series was held on Saginaw Bay on June 7 ,2009
31 federation Nation Teams started the day out of the DNR ramp at the top of the river in Bay City.
The weather became a major factor for many of the boats. With strong North East winds starting the
morning. Boats heading out into the lake meet 3 to 4 foot waves to start their long runs.
The rains held off till late into the weigh-in but the winds increased during the day.
The last 8 miles back to the river had 8+ foot waves rolling. All the boaters that went out into the lake
spoke of the skill it took to get back in safely. One boat had to trailer back. But all safe.
I must say the anglers in this event were truly seasoned drivers.
Even with the bad weather and low light conditions the weights brought in were good.
The paybacks being 100% were huge. Winning team took over $2,000.00 and 2nd place over $ 1,000.00. We paid back 7 places.
