I thought this interesting...

This is from the National Motorist Association (www.motorist.org) website:

MICHIGAN
(09/03) Michigan is among the states with laws requiring drivers to move at least one lane away from a stopped emergency vehicle. So, the State Police set up a mock emergency on the shoulder of Interstate 496. They nabbed 73 drivers who failed to comply with the new law. They raised $36,500.

Also, better keep your proof of Insurance on you or in your car, even if you leave it at home by mistake, it will cost you a $300 fine, no refunds in court.

Check out the link.

a "fake" highway stop to nab innocent passerbys just to raise money, thats why some people have a negative attitude toward cops at times, i guess they don't have anything better to do than to raise money for the state coffers

Wouldn't that be considered entrapment? I'm no lawyer but sounds like it to me. Now what if that same fake trap caused and accident because of people gawking, who would be at fault?

No good sons of biotchesssss!!!!!

You only have to get over a lane if traffic allows!! Otherwise you have to slow down and get over as far as you can safely.

Moving over a lane applies to all emergency vehicles, and if you can't move over you need to slow way down!
