Alright, so I went fishing as an adult for the first time today. Sure I did it when I was like 7 or something, but that was around 20 years ago or something, and don't remember anything about it. I went to the Selfridge Boat Launch on Hall and Jefferson, or whatever M59 is called out there. I learned that there was a bunch of stuff I didn't know at all. I was making way too many mistakes, like not tightening the drag enough and constantly tangling my wire. After a particularly nasty tangle that ended up in and under the real, I stopped by the bait & tackle shop there and they sorted me out. Tightened the reel proper, and then another guy helped me get set-up to do Live-Bait pan fishing, I believe, with a Perch Rig, and bought myself a torpedo bobber and some 1/2 oz weights among other things. The wife and I spent about 5 hours or so, but this li'l guy is all we had to show for it.
Despite my overwhelming ignorance and total confusion, I would say I had a good time! Hopefully next time, I can hook more than one, and I'm already planning on doing more fishing next weekend. I'm planning doing some Saturday morning, starting hopefully around 6 or 7 am and wrapping up by 11, and at any time Sunday. Not sure exactly where I'll be going either day, but if anyone wants to suggest a spot or meet up somewhere so that you can laugh at me being bad at fishing, say something down below. I can handle the gas prices right now, so anywhere on the lake is fine, including places that are ferried to, like Harsen's Island.
