i'm new to the water this year with my first boat. i'm not sure if i should even try LSC. i have a 19' bayliner, is that too small for LSC??

With waves no more than 2', you should have no problem. We used to do LSC with an 18' SeaRay Seville.

Afterall, it's not the size that matters, as long as you know how to handle it.

We were in an 18 ft not to many problems back got sore. The north channel can be real rough we had to turn around a few times. We would cruise about 20 -25 or so the boat handled like a vette so I could actually drive around some of the waves.

Wile 19ft is Ok to getaround the lake safely in, be aware that after a year or 2 you will gettwofootitis and want to upgrade. So, if you can afford it, I'd recommend at 22 - 24 ft with a nice cuddy up front to overnight in. my $0.02

Lots of good advise here for you. The only other thing I can add is to take a boating safety class. You'll enjoy it, meet some nice people and learn lots of valuable stuff.

I recommend buying a laminated chart of LSC. Studying and practice driving around. Once you are familiar with the various areas, everything will be easy.

I've been around for awhile, but will make my first entrance into the Moot with new boat this year.

#2 Take boater safety class
#3 Carry Marine Radio
#4 Look at putting in on the west side in Algonac. Much better ride in the North Channel and the Middle Channel to get to the fun spots like Muskamoot and Gull Island. That way you don't have to take an arsh kicking across the lake at the end of the day. I ran Hydrostreams out there for 12 years before I bought bigger boats and always put in over in Algonac.

Lake St. Clair is AWESOME. I originally lived in Waterford. Boating on Cass Lake with an 18'. Once I expeirianced LSC, I was hooked. Only problem was......I got the sh!T kicked out of me everytime I came out.
So, I sold the boat, the house, and moved to Harrison Twp, bought a 25'.

I changed my life completely for this lake. Even my job.
My advise: 25', no less. I am already ready for a 30'. but, 25' will get you around in most of what the lake dishes out.
