There have been a lot of orange buoys set out in the middle of the channel near the Harsens Island ferry. Tuesday there was a boat out there that looked like it might be the Channel Cat. The ferry deck hand thought they were setting traps looking for strugeon??? Does anybody know?

Does anybody know how the trap net survey went in AQnchor Bay? Just curious.

Hey Blue Heron.... any recommendations for walleye fishing Walpole this Saturday. Even if it is spots that "used to produce" for you. I am tried of trolling 9 mile to Metro and getting one fish per trip. I need new water to troll.

We always fished the Cut Off channel for walleyes, but almost always used jigs (same way we are trying to fish the South Channel this year). Years ago everyone trolled downstream in the Cut Off with crawlers but we don't see that much anymore. Don't see the fish that we used to see, either. You have to stay really close to the weeds to get fish which might make trolling hard. I used my trolling motor in reverse to keep in tight to the weeds. We are starting to get some walleyes in the South Channel but don't know yet if we will get the school that came through last year in July. That was fabulous, and we had the whole channel (down by Idle Hour) to ourselves.

Those orange buoys are still in the North Channel.....

Are you talking about the freighter channel? I fished that area saturday. There were a few boats in a controlled drift staying in a certain depth where the channel is open on the south side. We made one pass trolling down stream and had a few silver bass. What about the first cut going south off the channel?
We came back through the South Channel past the Idle Hour and saw a few boats drifting.
