as i was on my way to launch the boat last night i looked in the rear view mirror and had smoke rolling outta the back of the boat i stopped jumped in the boat grabbed the fire extinguisher and didnt see any flames so i disconnected the battery and found where a ground wire from the trim to the block had shorted together it looked like the ground wire got hot and melted through the pos battery wire replaced the wire didnt seem to have any problems but i also had a hydrolic line blow

i was wondering if the line blew and shorted something out or if the short caused the line to blow any ideals

what sucks is i just got the kicker motor on yesterday and the fishing was perfect with the calm winds last night but i didnt get to go

If your hydraulic line blew the hydraulic fluid could have eaten through the coating on the wire. It is similar to brake fluid and it will eat a lot of coating on wires.

i figured out what happened my battery grounded the pos terminal
i am assuming it heated the hose up sinse it was wire bradied and the pressure of the motor caused it to blow about to go buy a new line now so i can fish tonight
