If any of you come across Gerry Piku from Piku Yacht Sales & Services, I strongly recommend not to do business with him. You probably have not heard of the place, since he has a small business. In fact, I found out the number on his business card is his home #. He does yacht maintenance, appraisals, auctions, transporting, financing & leasing. I found out the stringers on my last boat were bad (actually, one was rotted & the other was decent). Not knowing what to do, I came across Gerry Piku, and he told me about an auction he was having. So I thought great idea. Maybe someone will be looking to pick something up cheap and work on it over the winter, or even for parts. I entered it, had a $1,000.00 reserve. It did not sell. So I was going to leave it there for a couple of days. Later that day, he called saying someone driving by wanted to buy it. He told me the guy was offering $600. I said no way. Without hesitation he said "I might get him up to $700", again I said no way, then wanted to meet in the middle at $800, then $850. Finally I told him the lowest I would go is $900. I found it fishy how he kept coming up in price without consulting the guy who was actually buying it. I thought maybe he was buying it for himself. I went out there to do the deal, and the guy who bought it pulled up. Instantly Gerry split. As I was talking with buyer, I find out he gave Gerry a $1000.00 as soon as he found out the price. In fact, he had 7 boats in the auction ( he spotted mine as he was taking his last one back) and told me had he talked to me earlier, he would have given me the money on the spot & taken the boat. So, as Gerry was holding the money, he was trying to lowball me and keep the extra.
I should have caught what was going on, but I wasn't thinking. I just wanted it gone!! So he got an extra $100 out of me. What a di**head. At least he didn't get an extra $400 out of me. I hope I do not offend anyone that may know him, but he is a conman and I would not give him any business. I just do not want anyone getting screwed like me
