It's a shame and all, but to all those who thought that guns don't have any business being on the water....just be prepared for anything. And no, I don't like it, and it shouldn't have to be this way.

AND THEY STOLE THE DAMN FISH, TOO!
Sorry, but that's like getting kicked in the nuts when you're down!

EUCLID -- The Coast Guard investigative unit is looking for two suspects who robbed a Euclid fisherman on Lake Erie Monday night around 7 p.m.
In Euclid, fishermen are watching the other boats on Lake Erie much more closely.

The innocent act of fishing has suddenly become a target for predators with a weapon.

The boating community has been buzzing about the perch fisherman who was robbed at gunpoint on the lake by two men.

George Degener, Coast Guard Public Affairs Specialist, said that the suspects were in a 19-foot boat and pulled a gun on the fisherman.

The pair demanded the victim's wallet, cell phone and his boat keys.

The suspects then dumped the cell phone and the boat keys in the lake and escaped with cash and the man's fish.

You wouldn't think it is possible to get away but Lake Erie is an enourmous lake and I suppose if you had a fast boat you could go about anywhere. Doesn't sound like the thiefs had a very large or fast boat though.

You said it! I have always felt like their is a sacred bond among fellow boaters and this sort of thing really goes the wrong way across the grain!

I've been telling people for years I'd never spend overnite on the lake without a gun. No law out there and you're easy pickings for a criminal. I'm told I'm just paranoid. I also keep a second set of boat keys on my little boat 'cuz I'm a klutz and I've lost my keys in the water before.

Those Bastards should be keel-hauled!

This story sounds fishy.
Lacking on details....dumped his cell phone and boat keys in the lake. Why would the suspects do that and how do the authorities know?
Imagine the scenario...... and remember to attach your keys to the key float the marina always gives you and your flare gun handy.
Since there is no details on the suspects.... I think they were probably Canadians in a Kayak and they are keeping it quiet to prevent an international incident.
The coast off of Euclid is a known tourist hot spot, and those perch fisherman are just sitting ducks for treasure coast pirates or crackheads that needed more bait. I will stick with the Canadians in a Kayak story.
