just picked up a new rod and reel
and going to fish up in port huron on the 25th of this month.
I have no boat and will be shore fishing behind the thomas edisn inn
I know walley are up there but I not sure on other kinds of fish
Alot of people tell me I have to use three way rigs and around 4lb weights to keep it down.
If anyone can help with advice on lures weights or what kind of fish I can catch would be helpful. also any kind of rod holder that will work would also help.
my rod I will be using is an ugly stick tiger med. hevy act.
w/ a penn. 209 reel spooled w/80lb. spider wire stelth

Try Pine Grove park. There are rod holders built into the park wall. You have the right equipment. Use a swivel and put a 3 way about 4 feet below. use anywhere from a 1.5 to 3 lb sinker (depending on current) from bottom of 3 way. Get the triangular ones with points. Use a 4 ft lead and put down either a light spoon or a bomber long A. Cast way up stream. Once down, tie 5 ft lead to to a snap with a small sinker - attach to line and drop down so you'll be fishing two baits. Attach a cowbell type bell to your rod and wait. Ok, not the most exciting fishing, but very productive usually.

Where i used to fish before i bought my boat was in marrysville right in front of the golf course. I would cast 6"twister tails pearl white color on a big jig head at night. I caught my biggest walleye there(31") .The current is real strong cast up river and real in. I havent been there in years im pretty sure you could still park in the golf course parking lot.We even caught a salmon during the day.
