Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

I have 98 Doral with twin 350's by Merc. Well the power steering pulley they originally manufactured is plastic. So the boat only has 87 hours and I am in the process of changing it on the port engine. Changed the starboard engine pulley about 3 weeks ago.

The new pulley they put on is metal and a little bigger, so it requires a new belt. Just wondering if this is a defect for that year or if I'm just that unlucky?

OK, so I went there for you. Ron said he always orders the customer the kit which has the steel pulley and a longer belt. Your dealer must have just got you the pulley. Go to harders auto parts south of M-59 a short ways on Groesbeck, and just get a belt about 2" longer. Ron's buddy owns the place and he gets them there also. About $30. verses the $90. for mercruiser.
