I have WAY more scum on the boat this year than last. It got a good wax job and has been wet almost 2 months, but geeez.

Anyway I was thinking I might bring the pressure washer to the marina and try to clean it off since I'm too chicken to get in the water for more than about 10 seconds till it warms up. I've not used a pressure washer on a boat before. Am I taking a chance on hurting the gelcoat?

Thoughts?

Depends on the tip you are using. I use the 40 degree or 25 degree with mine, no problem--similar to the car wash pressure. Wouldn't chance the 15, and the zero would rip right through the gel.

Are you talking about pulling it out and doing the bottom or just the topsides?

Either way you'll be fine. Just be careful around decals. I have used a 4,000 psi pressure washer many times on various boats your gel coat will be fine but you can remove striping, decals and old worn bottom paint so be careful around those things.

Actually I was going to see if I can get it from the dock. It's a small gas powered washer. Might not do a lot, but anything at this point would be in improvement.
