not a life threatening situation......BUT

my 17yr old "basketball star" was hurt in last nite's game.
She has two torn ligaments in her ankle

we go to the orthepedic specialist on Monday & are hoping she DOES NOT need surgery!

she is DEVASTATED!!!! it's her senior year & she has been playing basketball year round since 6th grade-
she doesn't want to spend her last year on the bench.

PLease send out some positive vibes her way that it will heal quick & easy!

That sucks.
I know exactly what it feels like. I tore the ligaments in my hand a few of weeks ago and it's still swollen and hurts.

I hope she heals fast.

i hope your daughter feels better. i know exactly how it feels when your season is cut short like that. at her age, this will be more challenging mentally than physically. just try to keep her positive..

on another note, i wouldn't be so quick to dismiss/ wish against surgery. depending on the injury, surgery may get her into PT almost immediately and on back on the court sooner. i blew out my ankle pretty good, and opted for surgery and was in PT within a week, and back on the field within 3 months. surgery is not always a bad thing - just food for thought.....
