Going to be buying the new Lowrance LMS-320 and I am trying to decide on the mapping software I want to use. Looks like the Lowrance MapCreate is probably the best, but a little cost prohibitive after buying the unit.

Does anyone have experience using the Navionics MotMaps or XL charts? HotMaps offers more lakes in Michigan than the XL charts, but are the XL charts clearer? On paper, the HotSpot maps lack a little detail in comparison with NOAA nav charts, but is that the case in the Navionics software? Are the XL charts more detailed? HELP!!! Thanks.....

XL charts are more detailed than the HotSpots maps, especially in the Great Lakes Region. Inland, HotMaps is the way to go. There are VERY few lakes on the Navionics XL charts for inland waterways. The ones that are there have navigation to the big lakes, but not all of the ones that do are on the XL charts.
