Hi Ck! I just posted a few pics in the License to Chill thread. I don't know how much I can type in one reply so I'll break it down into days. Here's the first:

This was one of the coolest trips I've taken. I frequent a Buffett board called Buffettnews.com. Its kind of like this, but the people are from all over the place. A lot of them travel to shows all over the country and know other BN members. My buddy, partner in crime, and fellow coworker, Shawn, went with me. We had been on the board a lot before the trip, getting to know a lot of the people that were going beforehand. I had never met any of these people. As the show got closer the thread got pretty crazy, and indication that this was going to be a phlocking to remember. We flew in to Sin City on Wednesday after work. It hadn't been an hour since we got to the Flamingo and we were in a limo with a few Vegas parrotheads bound for Roy's, one of the finer off-strip restaurants. Of course I made them stop at the liquor store next to Battista's for a bottle of Jager!! Dinner was awesome.... highly recommended. The funny thing was that after 3 double Jager's on the rocks, the waiter told me that the bartender wanted to meet me! I guess they're not used to Jager drinkers there. After the bartender shook my hand and wished me luck at remaining standing, we headed off to M'ville Cafe to meet other BNers (Buffettnews people) and hopefully some of the Coral Reefers (Jimmy's band). The drinks were flowing at M'ville and I got to meet Ralph (percussionist and Coral Reefer) as he was getting pretty lit on rum & cokes. We met a ton of people there, then headed off to Carnival Court, a place where we spend most of our nights in Vegas. Christian Delpesch, the top rated flair bartender in the world, and a friend of ours was working and bought us the first of many many drinks. Things eventually got fuzy and I vaguely remember something about Flamingo security escorting me back to my room..... nice of them!!!! I hadn't done anything wrong.... they apparently thought I could use a hand. (Shawn was occupied with some hotties at the piano bar at Harrah's and cut me loose) Not a bad day 1!!!!

Me at M'ville Wednesday night with Bners from Conneticut, Vegas, Chicago. I think I was getting lit and talking too much.

Tuesday morning:
I woke up in my clothes not remembering exactly how I got to the room. Shawn was there and said that I was face down when he came in at about 6am. I showered and headed down to the b-fast buffett. The show was today and the check in lines were pretty long. I had my pic as my avitar on Buffettnews, so it seemed like everywhere I went at Flamingo I heard "Hey Dave! That was a trip in itself. I walked over to the liquor store and picked up a fifth of Jager.... again. When I came back I met more people in the long lines and chatted with them until it was time to get ready to go to the preparty. I had talked to a friend who used to be a waitress at the pool and she was on her way over to meet us. Up in the room, I was trying to figure out how to conceal my wine skin full of Jager and my camera under my parrothead attire. Neither were supposed to be allowed into the show. I put the skin around my nexk backwards under my shirt and critched the camera. Hopefully there would be no metal detectors. Jodi showed up but had no ticket. That ended up being no problem cuz security was light.... to say the least. She just walked in with me when I showed the guy at the door to the courtyard my ticket. The courtyard was all decorated with soon to be stolen Corona and Margaritaville Tequilla banners and stuff. When we got close to the pool area, the magnatude of bringing in all of that sand hit me. OMG!! It was unreal! You'd never know that the area would be filled with bathing beauties (and not such beauties) lounging around the lush tropical pool in a couple months. I walked over to what's usually a waterfall, but now a bar, and ran into a really good friend working there. (I've made lotsa barstaff buddies over the years). That was cool cuz although I was drinking my Jager, he was pouring all of my friends really good drinks! We partied for a couple hours and it got pretty crowded. Jimmy took the stage around 5pm. He only played about 12 songs cuz he was going to do another private show inside afterward, but the place absolutely rocked. The funniest part was when he said "OK, EVERYONE OUT OF THE POOL!!! I ALWAYS WANTED TO SAY THAT HAHAHAHA!!!" Whan the show was overwe went up to te room for a bit and met up with Jodi's husband that had been at work earlier, then proceeded to Carnival Court, where we, at least I, got hammered once again. Somewhere in there was a lot of dancing. We spent the rest of the night there, watching Christian and Mig doing their thing. Mig's famous multi-bottle and drink balancing act never ceases to amaze me. If I could redo part of my life, I'd spend a couple summers at CC as a flair bartender.

Friday:
I awoke to find our room filled with misappropriated promo goodies. I had no idea how we were going to get the 30 foot banners home! Luckily, our phriends in Vegas offered to ship them. What a night!! I was feeling a bit hit. Luckily I had ramembered the aspirin and the water before passing out. Other than still having a buzz and being a bit tired, I was ok.... no headache or anything. We had previously planned to meet everyone at M'ville for lunch. I was walking around in a bit of a daze.... conversation seemed to be a little more than I could handle. We made our way up to the 3rd floor tiki bar. Everyone was already there. It took about an hour to decide wether I wanted a drink, a coke, or a blanket and pillow. After a 16ox can of Rockstar (its like Red Bull) and lots of peer pressure, I gave in to my normal staple of that brown stuff on ice. WHAM!!! Within a few minutes I was back functional and ready to go. We hung out there in the sun all afternoon, drinking and sharing good times with a couple hundred of our closest phriends.... lol! It felt sooooo good to have short sleeves and no socks on, especially since it was like 4 degrees here at home. We got invited to go to Anaheim for a show the following day, but decided that it would be too hard and that the best plan would be to come back and see a couple shows in CA this summer. We also got invited to any one of about 20 states to visit our new phriends. One guy has a pretty big beach house in CA and is throwing a huge party when Jimmy comes there this summer. I think we're gonna have to do that one. Anyway, we just hung out and chilled and drank while our friends and family here froze their a$$es off and shoveled snow. A couple highlights of the afternoon had to be someone coming up with the idea of hooking about 30 standard straws together and trying to drink from one end..... and te beer bong. Where in a bar have you ever seen a beer bong??? M'ville didn't seem to mind a bit. It was a pretty big hit! Nice bong too.... it had dual outlets and gate valves! They wanted me to do a bong full of Jager but I politely declined. We eventually had to get out of there and make it to Vodoo by 7pm for dinner. I love the filet at Vodoo and eat there at least once during every Vegas trip. Dinner was no less than perfect. We went upstairs to the Vodoo Lounge for a while, another of my fav hangouts. And then of course we eventually headed back to CC and finished out the night with more drinking, dancing, and laughter. My buddy Steve was working at Bugsy's inside the Flamingo that night and I remember sitting at his bar eating Burger King from O'shea's, and watching one of our new phriends Kelly, hanging with 3 hookers across the bar. We were laughing our a$$es off. That was around 5am. My phriends are amazed that I remember that part of the night. Did I mention the Flamingo now sells Jager? They didn't used to. Thank goodness they got with the times!!! That is about all I remember of that night.

Here's the 20 foot straw. If you look close you can see the girl on her knees trying to drink from it. Shawn is holding the end with the beer. Simple things amuse the intoxicated!

Saturday:
This afternoon was relatively uneventful. When I got up, cleaned up, and had fed myself, I walked down to the shops at Venetian to buy a new pair of Oakleys. I had lost mine Thursday and Friday was hard to get through without shades. I knew there was a sunglass store in Venetian, so off I headed. I found replacements and paid about 20 bucks more than I should have, but my eyes thanked me. Shawn hadn't stirred yet, so I went back to M'ville. There was no place to sit on the 3rd floor, so I havered around the bar waiting to pounce on the first chair that was vacated. I knew that the Rockstar had brought me back to life the previous day, so I wasted no time ordering one. I shagges half a table a few minutes later.... kind of next to the bar but not in the sun. There were a few guys from CA that were also wanting to sit there, so I shared it with them and told them I had my eye on one across the isle anyway. Many of the BNers were leaving, so I didn't know a lot of people there. A couple girls from Iowa..... yes Iowa..... that were with us the day before showed up about the time the table I had been eyeing opened up. Time to switch gears. "Waitress I need 2 more Boat Drinks!" Oh yeeaaaaa, there we go! Isn't if funny how a buzz can come back just like that???? About that time Shawn showed up. Here's where it gets weird. There were 2 eomen at the table next to us. One was quiet and shy, but the other one was a soccer mom gone wild. It was obvious she doesn't get out much and she was making up for lost time. She was all over Shawn (Thank goodness it wasn't me). Every time I got up she moved into my chair and was practically climbing into his lap. She ended up making her way all around the deck, socializing with anyone that would talk to her. The guy that was playing solo out there was making her the star attraction of his show. I'm just glad she wasn't with us because driving the porcelain bus was definitely in her future. The scary part is that she's from Madison Heights. Now when I go out I'm on the lookout just in case I need to run and hide! We spent the afternoon socializing and exchanging phone numbers and email addys with those that were still there. We then decided to go say hi to the day shift at CC. After a couple hours there I desparately needed a power nap if I was going to survive the night. Shawn went and gambled while I slept. He came back to the room and claened up and went to meet the Iowa girls at CC. He said he couldn't wake me.... imagine that! I woke up about 8 and freaked. Was there something I was missing???????? Oh $hit!!!! I showered and went to CC. The story is the same as the previous nights till later. It musta been around 5am. I wasn't ready to crash so I wandered around the Flamingo lobby minding my own business and staying generally overserved. It was at the lobby bar where I ran into them. 4 or 5 hookers with their Madaam. Oh boy, here we go. They tried their best to get me to rent them. Their Madaam even tried to get me to as well. I remember her checking to see if I was all there..... lol. I backed off and told her that they didn't want me anyway. I had been drinking for 4 days and was pretty much useless to them. They tried to talk me into it for a while.... until security eventually kicked them out. I was having fun messing with them to!!!! There was no was I was going to rent any a$$ though. Sorry, not my thing. When that fun was over the sun was coming up. I figured I'd better get some sleep since I had a plane to catch the next..... or should I say..... that afternoon. Day 4 ends.........

Christian and Mig at CC. Sorry guys, I didn't have my camera when I was hanging with the hookers!!

i love jimmy buffet!

i too have some pre-party pics, but they are from years ago at the party in the parking lot at pine knob. no story as fun as yours.

however, i did meet "somthing" (greg???) fingers (can't remember anymore as it was in 96) from jimmy's band at Memphis Smoke. He was singing, touring for the winter. Next morning we went to breakfast with the rest of band.

The following year, he called me when he got into town (1997), but i was leaving the next AM for a cruise and couldn't meet up.

The fun of being young, good looking, living in Royal Oak, and enjoying the SCENE!!!!!!!!!

Sunday, going home????

Rule #1 when travelling: If you want to make the plane..... put a little priority on getting to the airport!

Wow, I really wanted a drink! Unfortunately I had to try to bring my BAC down to a respectable level. I had to drive my truck home from Metro once we got there! Sidenote: I think it took till Thursday for my BAC to allow me to LEGALLY drive!
Leaving Las Vegas is sooooo depressing! (good thing I'm going back in April) I just couldn't seem to get motivated. By the time I got all of my stuff packed I was almost awake.... a little. Actually I didn't even pack it. MariJo, one of our new BN friends and Vegas resident, did it for me. She was going to take us to the airport. She also offered to ship our stolen promo goodies to us..... what a sweetheart! (If only I didn't keep passing out on the poor girl) I had to go to the M'ville store to get the only 2 souvineers we were bringing home...... M'ville shirts for our fav barmaids at the Big Fish in Dearborn. After that, I wanted to take a couple pics of the sand filled pool area. When we got to the valet area Shawan asked what time the plane was leaving. I said it was at 3 something. He looked at his watch and then just kind of shot me a weird look. We got to the airport at 2 something and were informed that there wan no way we were gonna make it through security and to the plane ontime. We were supposed to land in Detroit at 10:30pm. The best the guy at the counter could do was run us through Minneapolis and get us home at 12:30. Ok fine..... whatever. We said goodbye to warm temps and palm trees and sat our a$$es on the plane. When we got to Minneapolis it was cold as hell and I asked Shawn why we live in this state. He didn't have a good answer. Something froze in the water system on the plane and we sat there in Minneapolis for an extra hour and a half. We didn't land in Detroit till 1:30am...... and I had to be up for work at 4:30. I made it, but was useless and had to blow the following day off. Life has returned to normal now. I'm in serious brain cell regeneration mode and looking foreward to the next trip.
76 DAYS TILL VEGAS BAY-BEE!!!!!!!!!

Well CK, how'd I do???? You can't ask me if I left anything out for another few weeks.... things are still coming back.... slowly.

Here's me with some girl's Christian Doir shades. These were undoubtedly the ugliest sunglasses I've ever seen. I'll bet the things were $600 or more too!!!!!!!

Pine Knob? Where's that??? Just kidding!!! We've had lots of fun and good parties in the lot at Buffett shows over the years. Last summer was a good one. The funny thing about this summer is that there was a big red bus..... LMAO...... not too far from us playing Kid Rock...... at a Buffett show!!!!

This is from Knob 2003

ps--AWESOME job on the recant!

A bunch of my family goes every year around that time and stays at the Falmingo. When I originally heard about M'ville opening at Falmingo it seemed so perfect. "My fav place to stay is gonna have one of my fav places added??????" Too cool!!!
We also heard that Buffett is supposed to play the MGM in May. It looks like we'll be going back then too!!!

One note worth mentioning: My big a$$ yellow raft is going with us in April. I'd doubt it will have the same decorations in the pool at Flamingo as in the Moot, but ya never know. The monstrosity is sure gonna raise some eyebrows!!! "Free raftrides!! Going to Luxor.... stopping at NY NY on the way!! Rule #1.... no c**k on the raft!!!!!"
