Red Bull Air Races

THere is a post about being closed from 12:30 until another time, last year looked to be closed just below belleisle somewhere... Sorry for no specifics but the coastguard does have all the info... The other post outlines a bit better.

I'm pretty sure the River will only be closed during race times it wll not be closed all weekend. Just like the Gold Cup races the river on the Detroit side of Belle Isle closes sometime in the morning before they start running the boats and reopens in the evening once the boats are done. The only differance is that during the Red Bull races the entire River closes during race times.
