I know most consider them Trash
Fish Fisherman Ray-finned fish Curious Fishing

but...... I have never seen em as big as they are at st clair. In ohio people target them in the rivers

And the way they fight...If'n they got to be 3-4lbs...what a blast that would be to catch them.
When we were kids back in the 70s our great aunt would pan fry rock bass/sunfish along with the perch we caught. Fun times picking out the bones because they were too small for a good filet.

we had a fish fry with them very good
I've been eating them all my life and they're actually pretty good table fare. And believe it or not, the other one that's always considered a trash fish, Sheephead (Freshwater Drum) are really good table fare also.
