Anyone remember those days of going to the Roller Skating Rink?

Well I do and over the weekend this came up in a druken discussion. We have now come up with this crazy idea that we are going to go roller skating at SkateWorld in Troy next Sunday.

I don't know the details but if anyone is interested please post and I will get the details soon.

That might be fun, I used to go every Saturday afternoon when I was a kid!
I'm in. I used to scate 3 times a week there. I think I still have my (I mean Jason's) scates.
sounds like fun and its close to home too..

hey anyone remember the really old metal wheel roller skates that you used to have to clamp on to your shoes and could skate on the cement? you had to have a skate key for??

I use to have those ones that clamped on your shoes. Then I stepped up to the junk skates then to the Speed Skates. At this moment I am just hoping we can drink there and I will remember how to even skate.
Iam not sure but I don’t think you can unless you bring in a bottle and buy pop
OMG...that is toooo funny!! I still have my rollerskates from my teen years, used to go every saturday night. In fact just yesterday I was down in the basement cleaning and came accross them and almost threw them out.

Would like more information.

Way to wierd...

We were talking about this Saturday over a couple of Long Island...as we downloaded Ol school 80's tunes!

We were talking about like everyone getting together renting a rink, playing all 80's tunes...that includes big hair bands...Wearing mullet wigs... Wearing Jordache and Sassoon two tone jeans....

You get the picture

i'm in for sure.

WHo will 'couples skate' with me to Every Rose has it's thorn? lol remember that?
"COUPLES OR BACKWARD SKATERS ONLY!"

lol
Its been years and years, but I used to go with a bunch of teens years ago. Remember Mt Clemens rink? I wonder if there is a way I can stand on my head.........

I'm sure with a little practice, I'll be skating backwards again.
I used to skate every saturday at GREAT SKATE at 12 and hayes. lol. my parents never let me do the 'all night skate'.
sometimes we would say we're going skating, skate til 10pm or so and then hang out behind Arbys. lol. we'd burn one or something. lol

Wow skating sounds FUN!!!!!!!!

(can you tell i'm excited?!?!?)

I grew up right behind Skate World.....remember when it wasn't even there
Went every Friday, but we didn't always go inside
Hit Tony's Pizza across the street after.......

Also, went to the one in Clawson and the other one on VanDyke.....we would get sick of SW or boy friends hung at the other ones

Don't skate anymore.......I was never good....I am a clutz, big time!

My daughter goes all the time.............I know what she's doing
I always drive!

BobRob...I remember the key metal skates

total blast from the past with bringing up the skating rink in the clem Hammer - WoW that cleared out some cobwebs!!

I grew up in New Baltimore so we did skate loft every weekend. We'd suck down a 5th of rootbeer schnapps or bottle of boonesfarm behind skate loft and go in and "get down, so get down, just get down!!"

Remember that skating song????? lol

Cotty pretty sure you can't drink in there so you'd have to smuggle it in

yeah... i remember skating at the great skate on fridays. when break dancing hit, they would do the break dancing in the middle of the rink.

i remember skating backwards, with the comb in my backpocket. i remember having the colored skate covers to match my legwarmers... lol.

and i also remember days and days of skating lessons. i used to speed skate and took lessons for figures. i had a kick arse sach cow and i was working on a double toe blah blah blah.... whatever... i hated the lessons. maybe i'll find a picture of me back then in the skatingskirts, leotard and leg warmers... BLAH on skating lesson days. <_<

anyways... can't skate now missing the cartilidge in my R knee.
