3crabs and my 6 yr. old, Makenzie were over in the rifle/hunting department when Makenzie asked if we could buy a gun to go hunting, shoot a deer and eat it!!!! This was quiet a shock since neither of us hunt!

I've got a girl friend that does...looks like I'll have to send my little one off with her when she's old enough to take a safety course!!!

Anyway...thought it was cute.

oh, she has seen my neighbors clean one after bringing it home...doesn't bother her, ugh!

Why send her off by her self. Why don't you go with her. Hunting is not just shooting and killing. It can be a very bonding time with your kids. If you ask most true hunters it just being out there that they enjoy most.

My most enjoyable hunt ever, I never fired a shot. I went out squirrel hunting on a cold crisp fall morning. I had to get up and leave early to get to my spot by sunrise. It was mid morning and I had not seen a thing. Well, the sun out, bright and warm, a gentle wind was blowing. It was a perfect fall morning. The only noise you you could hear were the birds. So as I sat there with my back against a big oak, I fell asleep. It is so peaceful and relaxing out there. You have to get out there to realy understand the love of the sport. Give it a try!
Amen to that bob I would love to take my daughter hunting but shes at that age 15 where she cant stand the thought of killing bambi oh well theres allways grand childern when they come
My 7 year old niece is determined she is going to go deer hunting with myself and her "Pippi". She knows my wife hunts and really seems to be interested in it.

She also told me after watching a female angler weigh in at this weeks Everstart Tournament that she wants to be a professional angler.

I hope she does, so that she can teach me a thing or too!

my best hunt ever was with my dad up near boyne mtn. ( 1980) watched a doe walk up to my dad ( who was sound asleep ) sniffing him out . she stopped a few feet away, grunted , then took off like her tail was on fire !!!
that grunt woke him up. the look on his face was the funniest i have ever seen. i have never laughed so hard
, ever. needles to say , he never fell asleep again ! neither of us ever fired a shot then. you've heard of horse whisper, how about deer snores! lol
he passed in 1990, but that story will never get old.
i miss him dearly!

its not about the hunting, its about the friendship.

Sandman, I laughed, smiled and had a couple of tears in my eyes! What a great story! I'll keep it in mind

I watched my bros kids over the weekend. My nephew is 7, niece and my daughter are 6. They were all in the back of my truck talking about hunting for deer!!! I think there are gonna be a lot of women out there in a few more years
, if there isn't already.

Kids are amazing. My cousin's daughter I think she was 4 or 5 at the time, through a fit when her mom was not going to let her watch us butcher a deer. Her mom gave in, she watched us and we explained at each step what we were doing and why. She was fine with the whole thing. Then we all sat down and had a backstrap dinner.

She already out-fishes us and she can't wait until she is old enough to hunt. Little brat will probably out-hunt us too.

One of the guys I work with was sleeping up in his blind last weekend and woke up to a doe looking up at him and sniffing! I laughed my arse off when he told us. did think of Sandman's story....
