I got a call about 15 minutes ago that the site was unreachable. Anybody else have that problem?
If so, let me know what time it started. We need to deduct it from our hosting bill

PS - also a good time to bookmark that chat room, eh?

I thought Capt'n Rob said that AMS did web hosting and assumed that this is hosted through them too after he said that.

???????

Who does host LSCN then?

all throughout the day I experienced slow times and it just seemed to get worse about 7ish. Sorry, that's about the best I can nail it to.

LSCN is hosted with an affiliate that we partnered with when we first formed AMS. We no longer use them for new sites. If LSCN wasn't so huge, I would pick it up and move it. But that's a major undertaking for this fat-a$$ site!

AMS does offer kick-a$$ web hosting at great prices. I know that Hazy said you have somebody else that you use right now, but pull me aside sometime and we can talk hosting. Maybe we can get you a better deal.

You promise you won't go and put up another site while this one is down during the move?

Ditto. Move the pig. I'm on a T-1 line at work and its so freakin' slow at lunch it drives me nuts. My hoster has a very expensive T-3 line, but you get what you pay for. What does your hoster use Mike?

Our servers are directly connected to the internet backbone, so it's hard to put in terms of T1 or T3. It's a lot different than a PC at home or a server in the office. Our current offering shares a 10gbps pipe. That means that at any given time, one billion bytes per second could squeeze through it.

Bandwidth is not what slows the site down though. It has more to do with server load. The site does get beat up pretty good at lunch, so that get's the server working overtime..
