Detroit --Detroit City Councilwoman Monica Conyers has been offered a plea deal by the federal government in connection with a corruption investigation at City Hall, four sources with knowledge of the deal confirmed.

The federal authorities have told Conyers they want an answer by the end of today, but the wife of U.S. Rep. John Conyers hasn't made up her mind, sources said. The bribery-related charge that Conyers could plead to carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison, although she probably would receive less time.

Two sources who have spoken with Conyers said she is reluctant because she doesn't want to serve time in jail.

The hell with a plea deal - prosecute her!!!

But I guess they really want Kwame...
Another "RAT" chased from the woodpile..... Lock her up....
Since when is bribery illegal in Detroit?

What's next? Loans should be repaid?
"if you aren't praying for me, then you're just adding to the problem" ???

Give me a break!
Is she from some sort of parallel universe?

LOL

I bet she wants to be able to keep her job with the plea.
I watched her on the news a few months ago... WHAT A LOONEY TUNE!

She was being interviewed with a sterling heights politician, a few other people, and the news guy. She basically told him that all white people should stay north of 8 mile if they know whats good for them. Brian and myself sat there amazed, but not very surprised, by her behavior. She is a full blown, racist with malicious intent to the communities. Whenever anybody in the group tried discussing Kwame or the situation in Detroit she would get real loud and talk over them calling them racists and making sarcastic jokes about the "rich" suburbs. W.h.a.c.k.o.
Couldn't have happened to a more deserving person. Without fueling racial division, she has nothing. She is a disgrace to the city of Detroit.

Pretty much sums it up!

No, the "informed citizens" that kept electing her are the true disgrace, IMHO.

She has only been elected once. And she only won because of her last name.
This is going to get very intersting.
Her Husband Congressman John sits on the committee that pulls
the purse strings for the FBI.
Just youtube search her. And you can see the number two reason why Detroit is the laughing stock of the country (not including football...lol)

That's not fair pitting her against 8th graders. The 8th graders are far to sophisticated for the likes of her!
I'm wondering about Sam Riddle, since when is he Monica Conyers "chief of staff" & " spokesman?" He's always on that Fox2 show, Let it Rip. I have always thought he seemed to be very intelligent, well spoken, & a 'no nonsense' kind of guy.

He is very good friends with & was campaign manager for Mary Waters, who ran against Kwame's mother, Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, & was very vocal about how the 3rd woman that also ran, was sponsored by Cheeks Kilpatrick & was nothing but a spoiler.

He was no fan of Kwame, & spoke out against him. I remember one of his quotes, "Kwame's on the tracks & the trains coming!" So, why has he aligned himself with Conyers? Is she going to give Kwame up?
I think he was with Conyers before the Ch2 and Kwame days.
Looks like I was wrong about this guy. He alledgedley is in on the Synagro deal too!

From the Flint Journal:

Riddle

A Detroit City Hall corruption probe appears to be closing in on City Councilwoman Monica Conyers -- and the investigation includes her former aide from Flint, the Detroit Free Press reports. Sam Riddle, an outspoken and nationally known political consultant from Flint, is one of several people named by the Free Press in connection with a federal bribery scandal out of Detroit.

http://The newspaper reports that Rayford Jackson, an employee of Houston-based Synagro Technologies, pleaded guilty Monday to conspiracy to commit bribery. He worked to win the council's 2007 approval of a $1.2-billion solid-waste disposal contract with the company.

The Free Press has reported that Riddle is mentioned in court documents as soliciting money to help Synagro land the multimillion-dollar contract with the city of Detroit. The newspaper report cites anonymous sources and court documents.

Riddle has told The Flint Journal that he did not ask the company for money to persuade Conyers to approve the deal. He also has denied asking for a job with Synagro in exchange for a city council member's backing.

Riddle was a political consultant for former Flint Mayor Don Williamson, most recently helping Williamson with his gubernatorial campaign. Riddle also advised Tamarla Owens, the mother of the boy who fatally shot a first-grade classmate in the Beecher School District in 2000.

He has been quoted by several media outlets as speaking out against former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and the text-messaging scandal.

Seven other Detroit officials, including Kilpatrick and Conyers, also are named in the Free Press report as being connected to the Synagro deal.
