Ok so I want to take the boat out and about for the weekend with my girlfriend. I would like to know of some places we could stay out on the lake, or in a marina that would be fun. I can't go to Canada because of a DUI 7 years ago, so that's out of the question.

We were going to head up north, and rent a cabin for the weekend, but it's pretty expensive. I would rather be out on the boat and put money in the gas tank. I draft about 3.5ft, so I need to take that in consideration. I was thinking about visiting places on the lake I had never been to like, Riverside(for some knots), go up the St.Clair River, any nice marinas to stay at there? If we could hop around to different places, then stay somewhere that would be fun. Thanks for the help,

Will

The Marina in St Clair is very nice.. good restaurants nearby (call ahead)
Port Huron can be fun... either along the walkway right in town or further upstream on the Black River.
Algonac's Harbor Club is nice Marina.. pool, restaraunt, bar
Harsen's Island's Idle Hour.. also nice (S Channel) and Sunset Marina (NC).. pool.
Mac & Rays... pool, bar, etc...
Metro Beach Marina...
(In Harrison Twp there's a shuttle bus you can call to go anywhere in the twp... free!)

Well.. don't quote me, but many of the club islands around the lake are hurting for members right now. Many welcome visitors so you can check out the facilties, in hopes of attractiing you as a member. The Idle Hour is also a club, but is open to transient boaters as long as there's wells available... try calling ahead or stop in and ask. I'm thinking you could do much the same at many of the club islands as long as there's not some club get-together going on that weekend.

If they let you spend the night, be gracious and offer some cash for the privilege ($20) if it includes electricity hook-ups and other amenities that make your stay nice.

They welcome transients and should be no problem getting a well no gratuity needed just pay for the well about $35 vs $65 at Algonac Harbor club
