I was able to get out and fish today. I fished about 1/2 mile west of the light. I was using chartruse harnesses with 1oz bottom bouncers. I caught 2 walleye, lost one at the boat, 1 nice sheepshead and a lot of perch 4 of them were around 10 inches. Well, I had a mishap out there, after moving to my drifting spot, I was putting my stringer back where I had it all day, a huge wave hit the boat and bam there goes the stringer in the water with my walleyes and perch. I tried to swipe it up with my net no good, i was going to jump in but the waves were pretty good sized. I still feel bad, there are 6 good fish that were wasted, that has never happened to me before.
That is awful, but don't feel alone. My daughter caught her first bass fishing from shore at Metro 6 years ago. Mom lifts the stringer that was attached to the seawall for Dad to take a picture and snap the stringer breaks and bye bye fish.
Bad enough to loose your own, but the kids first, honestly I'm not sure if she has completely forgiven me.
Did some perching today west of the light house, caught some biggest was 10"
used big shiners - was basically slow - caught a couple more close to shore -
it was better than ice fishing last winter only cause no dinks - could had a dinner for 2
with sides, but threw them back (5) as the day went on.

Hey 29, bummer on the loss today, here is our report. Hope things go better next time, and thanks for the report. Hey Stormchaser, check this out
Schram called me at 2 pm today. Got out a bit after 4. Last minute thing, we shot out. Moved like a bitch today. Fished where we saw all of the action the other day, but nothing. Worked our way down to Metro, and then worked our way back North. ended up at the barracks by Selfrige base. Moved that much and far trying to squeeze in a Muskie in the 4 hours we had. Fished along the rescue breakwall by Selfrige where they have the breakwall making a small channel about 200 yards into the lake.
Brian was running Brunners and topwaters, I stuck with my old tailess Bummer Bee.
Brian worked the wall and weedbeds, and I took advantage of Brians spot and casted my old a$$ lure along the wall in 5 fow. BAM!!!! Got the first and only hook-up and landed it. A 40" plus fish looks like a damn Sardine after seeing your beast.
Brian said he would do the report and post the pic. He suggested all the moving. We had about a half gallon of gas left and I was wondering if we were going to make it in. Didn't take the extra tank. Wind and waves were a mother fricken dog today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry to hear about the lost stringer of dinner man.
Hopefully next time you head out, you will double your results, and get even more for dinner.
None the less, great job on a tough, and slow day out that far.
Bill, That was my b-day wish for this year actually. lol To get out with you and Brian again. Between to 3 of us, I WILL put one in the boat on Tuesday. I'm almost guaranteeing it now. I'm that fired up. lol Cannot wait for that to happen. Weather looks fantastic still, and it should be a blast. Nice job on the move today for a last minute call. I will have my rod/reel setup by then as well. I might push it and pick up another lure or two also. I'm going to shoot Brian a PM about topwater. I can only imagine what that has to be like with a 50+ class fish exploding on it.

I really wouldn't call it slow, I would call it slow and steady. I would catch 4 to 5 perch every drift, but I had 3 rods out also which makes a difference. I think next time I am bringing a 5 gallon bucket and putting my fish in there, they are going to jump out of that.
I tried bouy 27 and 29 last year, quite a few boats fishing there. Tried trolling for walleye. Did not do that well, just a nice big channel cat and something big that ripped off my line. It sure beat working!
