I've got this random leak that only seams to happen when it's really windy. Just started a few weeks ago, then again a couple nights ago. It's ruining my bedroom ceiling & floor!!

Anyone out there ever have this problem, or know about roofing??

HELP!!

those are so hard to find !
you need to access your attic up there to folloew the water mark, trail.....but i think you have cathedral trusses up there don't you....then you may not be able to access it.
hmmmmm, you need to get om the roof take a look....could be a total pain in the a$$.

good luck buddy !!!!!!

I checked the roof & all LOOKS well. Got up in the attic & looked at everything nearby w/a flashlight. Other than some very wet insulation in one small spot, I can't find anything else. OR, anything leading to that spot. I pulled up the insulation so it could dry out.

WELL
only thing i suggest you can do so you don't run around chasing your tail on this, is be home next time we get the wind/rain you say it needs to show the leak.

Maybe we can take a look sunday ?

Stop at home depot, lowes ect, pick up a little jug of roofing tar.

when it rains, go in the attic, watch where the water comes in, you may have to search for it, cause water can travel along ways before it drips down. then you need to fill the hole from outside and inside. May want to drill a small hole where the water is coming in, from inside out...stick an object in the hole so you can see it when you go on the roof, remove the object, and fill it with a little bit of tar, then go inside in fill that area as well.
but finding the actual inlet of a little leak is a pain in the arse.....i would chack all caps, all valleys, and all tinned, flashing area's around your chimney's ect...for adequate tar, sealant.

QUOTE(jetski @ Oct 16 2003, 09:30 PM)Do you have a ridge vent on your roof? Sometimes with enough wind the water will blow up the shingles and enter in though the vent
I have "vents" . . . that are full of birds nests. Not sure what a "ridge vent" is?

A ridge vent runs along the peak of the roof and is about an inch or so taller then the normal roof surface. The idea is to have a vent at the highest point of the roof where the heat gets trapped.

He is not talking about the square tin vents.

Is THAT what's causing the leak??
