I was thinking about giving Stony a shot this weekend after seeing rubbnsmokes post and others. Has anyone been there this week?. How's the ice and any tips on where to set up the shanty?. Not looking for your hotspots, just some general areas to try. Also where can I get bait around Stony? Any help would be appreciated.
TIA
Chuck

I was in the party that took that fish. Don't expect one. Though not common, the walleye I've taken at Stony have all been big. Not a bad pike lake and a nice place to fish with a nice short walk out. Except for dawn and dusk I've found over many trips that you cannot escape the dink perch and the ice is THICK - 18". But gobs of waxworms at dawn and dusk are good for gills and crappie. If you know the lake, keep in mind that it's down at least 3 feet. In between the beaches is OK. Never tried the shallower water on the northern side of the lake or above the dam south of 28 Mile Rd. Any feedback on that area would be great.
