I know DNR does controlled burns for habitat reasons and environmental reasons. Brush coulda been growing grossly and they probably decided to rid the island on dead brush!?!?!?!?!
Are you sure it was Strawberry? The Indians do a controlled burn on Seaway Island every spring. Used to know why, am unsure now. Seems like it was something to do with the game on the island. Maybe they're harvesting muskrats. Good for the Indians, bad for the muskrats.
