I saw this article on Channel 4's website.

Bait Shop Collecting Fishing Gear For Troops In Iraq

POSTED: 9:05 am EDT August 9, 2004

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Fishing is a great way to relax -- even for someone in a war zone.

Now, an Alabama bait shop wants to help GIs who are looking for a little R&R. It all started with a recent issue of Bassmaster Magazine.

An article told the story of soldiers in Iraq trying to fish with crude, handmade tackle. The Worm Shack is collecting donations of tackle to send to the anglers in camo.

They need just about everything -- including hooks, lines and sinkers. Of course, rods and reels would be appreciated, too. The Worm Shack is selling "Tackle for Troops" T-shirts to help fund the program.

Tackel for Troops

I would be interested in sending them some tackle, anybody else interested?

What a great idea! I have emailed all of my fisherman friends to see if they would be interested in donating. I will get back to you soon

Great Post. We can't do enough for our soldier's that keep us free. It's easy to just take for granted what they do. I bet they will get plenty of fishing equipment and it will go for a great cause.
