Went to Boat Show last night with Dr. XO and Baby Carly. Glad you all had a great time with Instigator's B'day Bash. Again....sorry we couldn't make it....no infant babysitter.
Anyways....we did enjoy the show. Seems that the show has definitely evolved with our current times.....I mean our economy. Boats were smaller with a lot of emphasis on Pontoons, Jet Skis, Inboard Ski Boats, and Trailer Boats. I guess this is what might sell with our current state of affairs. I remember when there were a lot more bigger boats. Heck I even remember when there use to be a few displays of Sail Boats too!!
Not this year!!!! Although there was the usual display old "Old Woody's" Very Cool!!! The boats we boarded included Carver, Tiara,Sea Ray,Regal, and of course Formula. Did not see Cruisers though. Were they
there Hammer???Did get a chance to see Sue and her Gang from Emerald City....nice meeting you guys!!!!
Overall we did enjoy the show but things have sure changed!!!! We love our boat and really didn't see
anything we had to have......

I have to agree XO. I was dissapointed in the small amont of boats there. If you're looking for a waterbike, jet boat, pontoon, fishing boat, or ski boat it's the place to go! <_<

Even the amount vendors was smaller than usual.

And, being the first day I'd thought that it would be packed with people, but it wasn't.

Probably because of economy right now they figure peeps aren’t buying huge boats, I thought it was ok with the exception of 5 dollar beers. I did how ever like the plastic beer bottles they served it in...

We went on saturday as well for about 7 hours. Thought there was less cruising boats and more jet ski's, smaller boats ect... there. I have to agree on it being a sign of the times. Talked to several brokerage people about trading up from our 270 to a 340 and found out it shouldnt be that difficult. One even offered to put one that is in inside storage into the Detroit River to go for a test run.

I did learn something new about hte I-68's and CanPass and will post that after I read through the info I was given. GOing to be much easier now, and cheaper, especially if you travel into Canada by car and by boat often.

First time in about 8 years I've been to the show, so hard to remember what to compare it to, but seemed like it was fine to me... something to chase the "winter boat withdrawl blues" away, if only for a day.

I got a kick out of some of the pontoon boats, including the 25ft. "Party Barge". Somehow I think this is NOT the model my in-laws just purchased.

Will be going there next Saturday the 14th.

Looking forward to it. From what I have heard the boat show is very expensive to have space there. It is the same thing with the Metro show. You see less and less dealers there every year because of the cost to be there. That is why there might not be a spring show this year at Metro. We'll see.

Give us a shout on the cell phone! Mrs. Campari and I will be going next Saturday the 14th as well. Valentine's day!

Gonna do the show and then a little quiet dinner somewhere then a little hot...

Sorry.

The last time we went I was dissapointed. Hopefully this year will be different (though from the sound of it, it won't be). Not looking to buy but we ARE looking for something bigger soon...

I may go again with capt'n Rob on Sat. Not that its worth it, I just like boating.

Plus the drinks at Greektown were great.

Convincor, there isn't going to be a spring show I heard.

Went to Cyprus. They have the best food. If I want pizza, I'm not going to greektown. Spider, his wife, and Damn Yankee joined me there. It was their first time and they agreed.....best food in greektown.

QUOTE(hammer @ Feb 8 2004, 12:26 PM)I agree XO, no Cruisers Yachts this year....Jefferson Beach didn't bring ANY boats to Cobo, only a booth with used boat flyers.
Yeah I guess Jefferson Beach and Toledo beach were together this year- I asked and it was because Jefferson beach is in Miami this year probably cutting back on costs with both shows and they picked Miami- not a bad choice but I was dissapointed that there wasn't any Cruisers there.....

I agree the show is gearing much towards smaller trailerable boats I would prefer to see more bigger boats...

Christine and Bill it was nice seeing you at the show!!

and the famous question?? did we buy a boat???
check back in about a month and I will let you all know.

Too many stupid pontoon boats

Other than that hey it was a boat show. I'd go again just because I like boats.

Hammer and I played leap frog all the way home.
I honked and waved at him.
I then mooned him and he still didn't turn his head.

Hammer, if you see this I was the black dually in front and behind you all the way up 75 and 696.

What's up with that...any idea why? I thought they were really taking marketshare in the industry..or ..should I think that maybe they feel they have and they no longer need to promote and market? I am really shocked. Although last year's models gave me some concerns with some of the cosmetic changes
