For those who don't read the "Tournament Talk" forum, the issue of the Drop-Shot rig came up again. I figured it would be appropriate here as well.

The famous Quetion: "Is the drop-shot legal in Michigan?"
The pitiful Answer: "NO, The drop-shot is NOT legal in Michigan."

However, "The Michigan Rig" is legal. This was published in the October 2003 issue of Bass Master Magazine. I tied last fall and it does work pretty well. I beleive it provides better action and more sesitivity than using a 3-way swivel.

 

[No More Mini]

Actually it kills the action of the bait Marke. The action comes from the head of the lure being close to the line.

You CAN however, use the "Mini" rig by threading the worm on the leader line and having the hook near the tail of the bait instead of the head. The leader will be fully enclosed in the bait.

Mini showed me that rig last year.....it works.

I use it with 4-7" worms.

Hey Mini, what do you use to thread the leader through the worm?

Thread it through the hook and continue past it right up the leader.

The leader length is dependant on the size of the worm.
