The Boat U.S. organization sold it's retail stores and catalog operations in January to West Marine for $72 million. West Marine will take over about 60 stores that had been operated by Boat U.S.
Members of Boat U.S. won't notice much change. They will continue to offer marine insurence, towing, boat financing and lobby on behalf of it's 540,000 members.
It also says that West Marine has a total of 320 retail stores, and will sell Boat U.S. memberships for the next ten years.
