I wanted to get a rail mounted flag pole for the bow and to my surprise, the prices are absolutely ridiculous

I have a pole without the mount that I acquired last winter. Thinking I could just buy a mount for the 1" bow rail. Cheapest one I could find was at Mike's Marine.... $35 bucks!!!

This complete set (pole and mount) at West Marine is $45 bucks. What are these things made of? Gold core? Flying a flag is not worth the price they are asking...

Get this, I even went into Earl's on South River and he had a really nice looking rail mount for the flag pole I have. It was the only one they had and it wasn't even in the packaging. They wanted $50 for that. They will NEVER sell that!! Oh well. They lost a sale. I would have bought it for $20.

No kidding, I bought a plastic antenna extension for my GPS antenna - about a foot long. $35!!!

Its a plastic tube!! About .50 worth of material!!!

That is the joke! We all know it takes NOTHING to manufacture this stuff. The rail mounts are forged/polished pot metal.

There is no way I would spend that much for so little

and don't by the cheaper ones with the aluminum rail mounts. They break in a matter of weeks

Yeah, that one is $15 at West Marine. I wouldn't trust my LSCN flag to that cheap thing. I have lost 2 LSCN flags already and don't want to lose anymore. However if I lose one more I will be forced to order more flags and that would make Capt Ken happy

I had this one on our old boat. It was pretty nice, although I never ran with the flag unfurled so I can't attest to durability if you want to run with your flag flying.

I had the same issue as you, I started looking and couldnt believe how expensive they were. I think I ended up getting this at West Marine but I dont remember it being $45. Expensive, but not $45.

I should have taken it with me, now I have to buy another one for the new boat.

Be careful because I bought the one partnership posted. It was the first time ever I bought a flagpole for the boat. Well it lasted a whole weekend before it broke off and almost impaled Brian flying back. Lost my LSCN burgee too.

Spent the $40 online (my source is secret!) and it was a very well made, sturdy, hardcore flagpole. A hurricane wouldnt budge it!

If I find the site that I bought it from, I will PM it to you but you must swear to secrecy. Their prices are very cheap (comparatively), and when its gone- its gone. So Im trying to preserve the stuff for when I buy my next boat and need tons of supplies

I am also out shopping for a Kenwood iPod adaptor. Thats $38. Just to hook an ipod to the radio.

I paid $50 for a stainless pole and base that flush mounted at Boater's Wolrd. It's on the Bayliner still.

I miss Boater's World.
