i don't know if anyone followed up or posted it, but thunderfest is officially cancelled.

I KNOW!!!!!!!!!! cause that was my biggest gig of the year! and coolest, too!

they are working out something for august, tho, for a 3 day party down thataway on the water. and a hottiefest in july...MAYBE. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I generally have brain farts when repeating info, but i'm pretty sure Chrysler (or one of the big three) is not a sponsor this year. I heard thid from one of my clients last weekend.

I know CK!! For me, this is one of the biggest "jump-starts" to my sumer income

oh, i would LOVE to keep everyone informed.

and the official word on WHY it's not happening is because they (meaning the people running the thunderfest) still owe money from last year that they can't cover.

i don't know what could have happened for them to still owe, unless the roosterail took $$away from them? (this is only my totally uneducated guess) i mean, the RT WAS charging EXORBERANT rates for parking...but i'm sure that's only the beginning.

but that's my official word from the thunderfest peeps.

That stinks! The Thunderfest was really the only time I headed downtown.

Figures, I have never been to Thundserfest. Always say I'm going to go and never make it. Now it is no more. Same thing happened with the Dead ... aww, I'll see them next year. Then Jerry dies and I'm screwed, never got to see them!

I have been a volunteer for the Thunderfest for the past 10 years and driving one of the rescue boats for the past five. I think it is very sad that the city of Detroit and the Thunderfest organization would let this happen. It is not like having money trouble was something new this year.
