To anyone interested i just want to get this posted before the rumors all start.

It is official the Venetian Festival has been cancelled for 2004. The only reasons for this are addditional expenses for insurance, police coverage etc. and a lack of additional sponsorship to cover these expenses. Not to mention a lack of volunteers to help with the event. The Board of Directors of the Nautical Mile Association of which I am a member have turmoiled over this for two months and have had to make this final decision. We are greatly sorrowed by this and hope to be able to continue with more members support for the 2005 season.

We are going to be getting together in October/November to look for sponsors etc. Rob Will hear about it through the LSCN memebership in the Nautical Mile so we will keep everyone posted on what they can do to help next year.

This is the year that I miss out on everything.

No Jobbie Nooner
No Venetian Fetival
No Taxman party (If there was such a thing)
No bb parade
No labor day parade/parties

I think that it's time for me to move out of Michigan <_<

Before I end up

I am sure all bars will have parties, but without the marinas having parties it will just be like any other weekend night. It is a big bummer. Waves won't get a tent permit and Jacks won't have the open marina policy and that will cause thing to just not be the same.

It is going to be a big difference from in the past. We need to get another year like we had when Captain Morgan sponsored it!!

You are right it definately does!!

But people need to remember the party is second, the real reason for it is the parade of lights. That is the whole basis of the festival and of course it leads to great parties!! But the parade and fireworks take alot of money.

The base cost of that festival is right around $25,000.00. We will see what the fall brings. There will be a big meeting in regards to this in October or early November to get a big jump on next year.

I will keep everyone posted

What a big, ole bummer. Maybe we'll just come down and spend the weekend anyway
Had so much fun hanging down there last year.

Maybe some Winter fund-raisers are needed this year.....Keep us posted and let us know what we can do to help.
