So I had a meeting a stones throw from the boat... I haven't been able to get down to it in a while, and figured I'd swing on by...
So I went, decided that maybe I should fire it up, get some gas running through, distribute a little oil blah blah blah.
I realized that one of my batteries was not well charged, so I looked at the sky, it was relatively nice, and I said, let's go for a ride. Strictly just to charge up my other battery!
I TOOK OFF MY LEATHER SOLED SHOES (important later in the story)
I untie the boat, and head on out, everything is fine.... Someone was coming out of Jacks, probably 400 yards from me. He takes off and is on plane right about the time I take off. All of a sudden, he turns tail and heads back in. I thought, that's odd. At this point I notice some gray clouds to the south, but no big deal because A.) I'm not going South and B.) I'm not going to be out long. I look back to see what the other boat was doing (the one that turned back) and saw a WALL of BLACK clouds and went OH $%&*
Hammered the throttle all the way back in, thinking I can beat it, I did. As I was pulling into my well, it the rain started. I tie up, put the canvas back on the boat and am somewhat wet (I'm wearing a dress shirt and suit pants, I had taken off the tie.) I start walking to the car and it starts POURING. Guess what, I left my shoes on the boat!
I uncover a LITTLE bit of canvas, slide in, get my wet suitpants a little dirty, and get my shoes and RUN (It's really coming down now) to the car.
Once I got to my locked car, I realized that the KEYS to said car were also in the boat...
I repeated above process, and sit here typing just a little wrinkled!
Good thing my boss lives 1500 miles from Michigan
