Have you successfully sold your bass boat by advertising in the major daily papers (Free Press, News), advertising-only papers (Tradin' Times, etc.), websites, or newsletters?

I have a couple of boats to sell and before plunking down a bunch of money on advertising, I was wondering what works the best.

Can you help me out?

I'm not too sure if that works or not since I haven't sold a boat. But I know of a few people who have sold via word of mouth (guys in clubs who are selling or know of guys that are selling), and by basically parking their boat on a "high visibility" street corner or business (with permission). I would think doing it online via sites like Bass Boat Central would be a good way to go and would get more exposure. People looking online at a boat-related site are probably in the market. Newspapers would be kind of hit or miss with the audience you are aiming for I would think. But, to use a fishing analogy..."The more lines in the water, the better chance you have."

Some times I can actually be of help. There are times when people only buy from a dealership because of the financing options. Working at a dealership (D and R Sports) I can help you by offering the financing to anyone interested in your boat for you. Having a dealership offer your boat as a brokered boats is always another option.

Having a secure place by a main road with a for sale sign is a option, taking a wheel off is some security. You probably thought of that but don't want to check on it or leave it. It would be worth a try when the snow's almost gone. Can't beat the price.

Boattraderonline.com is the best way to go. I have sold all 6 of my boats thru trading times. I left the last one in front of my sister in laws house on Palms rd about a mile from m-29 and someone help themselves to the brand new battery and even unbolted the battery hold down.

Hey Madman,

Sent you an e-mail through this board regarding boats for sale that your friends might be interested in. Just wanted to post here as well in case I screwed that up. I have a 2002 Stratos 21 XL Magnum with Evinrude 225 HO for sale. Please call or e-mail me and I will forward the pics and equipment description to you. If you or anyone else on this board sends a person my way who buys it, there is a finder's fee in it for whoever sent the person to me!
