After having a great summer fishing for muskies out on the lake this year, I have been skunked almost everyday
that I have been out since that first cold front came through three weeks ago! the spots that were hot this time last year are cold and I don't see any other muskie boats washing off their nets either. I normally fish the south shore right now, but from the detroit river to the belle river the south shore seems barren of muskies!
where did they go???
did muskiebob call them up to anchor bay with some sort of muskie call?

Nope I didn't call them up here. We have plenty. They will start to move more now as it is time for them to put on the feed bag. They will be roaming all over the place now. The fish are there but the weather has been bad for good fishing.

Hi Fishwacker , The muskie fishing is still going strong ! We put 37 of them devils aboard my boat over the last week with a 52 incher at the high mark ! Hot spots are on the south shore between Stoney Pointe and the West of the hump 12 to 16 ft. of water . Run big baits and slow your speed down a little the water temp has droped quite a bit the last two weeks . Black carp with large scale has been smoking hot . Tight lines , Bob

Thanks for the info pequod, I guess that I have been trolling too fast? (4.2mph), how fast are you trolling?
I have been using big wileys & nils master lures mostly.
Look for the blue and white starcraft islander out there
this sat. and sun., I do believe that I have seen your boat
fishing the south shore before.

Fishwacker , I have been keeping speed between 4.0 to 4.7 so it seems that you are right there and in the same general area . When first setting up I will put a good mix of bait size's in the program and let the fish tell me what they want but lately its been the bigger baits. I don't think I'll make it out this weekend but when I'm out there I'm standing bye on vhf 80 . Maybe the muskie godess thinks you have caught enought with your good luck in July and August .
Give me a shout and we can compair notes. I'm running white 27ft. hard top Sportcraft . Tight lines , Bob

Bigger baits should start working better now. I feel you might catch more fish if you slow your speed up more each week from now on.
