I thought I'd come to work this morning and find a bunch of bass posts seeing the season opened on Saturday. Who fished this weekend and how did you guys do? I went to Lakeville Lake on Monday with my dad. We caught a few small pike, probably about 10 largemouth and a few rock bass. Most were caught on tube baits. I lost one nice bass on a 1/2 ounce rattle trap. Anyways, I caught one bass where the bottom the fish was pretty yellowed. I have never seen this before. I was just curious does this have something to do with the spawn? Is it a diseased fish? Any thoughts?

i also fished belleville tourney on sat. we struggled but still managed to finish in 6th or 7th. it was a blast though. met some good peeps and caught fish all day, just not any big'uns.

fished the aba tourney on sunday on lake nepessing in lapeer. for anyone who has never fished this lake my advice to you is get in your truck and get there. unbelieveable. we weighed some pigs. nothing HUGE huge, but several fish over 3.5 lbs. big bass went 4.46 and second big bass was 4.41 and a few more over 4. lots of fish in that lake and they arent afraid to bite. i had two fish break me off, one i am pretty sure was a big pike. he stripped my line in half ( 17 lb test ) and took my favorite ratl trap, the very ratl trap i caught my big fish on, a 3.89 largie. i swear that fish was 5 lbs before i put her in the box
good time though. good turn out. glad to see some new members for this one and a bunch of guys came back for our second event. so we must be doing something right.

hope to see some of you at our next event on lake ponemah in fenton 6-13-04. thats another hawg lake. should be interesting.

on a side note, my boy mike rochon took first again and missed big bass by .05 oz. that boy can fish. congrats roch!

Saginaw Bay for the opener and the first GNT Elite of the 2004 season. What a great time. The wind did not let up in practice (strong from the south on Thursday and then the north on Friday). But it sure laid down nice for Saturday.....light and variable! Calm waters on Sag Bay??? It was a slugfest. 4 bags over 20lbs. Heck we had 18.65 and came in 13th! A really good day fishing for shallow smallies with tubes, twin tailed grubs and Stick-O's! Must have boated around 30 fish, could have been alot more, but we were passing up 2.5 - 3 pound fish all day looking for bigger ones....

Fished lake Skegemog on Sunday (same lake as last years federation tournament) 13 boats. Took 1st place with almost 17lbs. Everyone was up pounding the banks catching males. Caught 2 4lb females on deep beds and then dragged tubes the rest of the day in 8ft of water to get the rest. Caught about 20 keeper smallies total.

The Federation should be hitting burt and mullet just about right, maybe alittle early. Just think, if the DNR gets there way last weekends tournament would have never happened.
