also found out that even if I didn't NEED to be here, but wanted to take is as a vacation day; that I wouldn't get paid for the holiday because you CAN'T TAKE OFF THE DAY BEFORE OR THE DAY AFTER A HOLIDAY. NOT EVEN CHRISTMAS.

Officially we are open, but we are closed. Have to take the day off. Good part is we are getting 4 hours admin leave so it will only cost 4 hours of vacation time.

I work pretty much 7 days a week.... at my leasure though.
I no longer get paid vacations, paid holidays, paid sick/personal days, 401k, insurance and other benefits. The joys of having a commision job.

Today I went in at 9:00, went to Hooter's for lunch at 11:00, drank beer, went back to work at 1:00, left at 1:15 and was home by 2:00.

And I'm off until Monday with Holiday pay for tomorrow and Friday. I really feel sorry for those that are being forced to work over the holiday. Honestly, what are you or your company going to gain from it?

I can promise you that everything on my desk will still be there waiting for me on Monday.

Thursday and Friday are both paid holidays for me. Unfortunately though we still haven't gotten completely moved out of the old office so I will most likely be working on that both Friday and Saturday. Biggest hang up is waiting on the garbage people to come empty the dumpster. We can fill it faster than they can come empty it.
