It's time to turn in my leased Ford Edge - due next Monday. For the last 2 weeks, I've been investigating EVERY option. The "Domestic Big Three" don't seem terribly thrilled with leasing these days - based on the lease payments they've quoted. So, I felt compelled to go look at the "foreign" brands.

Why do I feel guilty about considering a Toyota Camry - which is built in Georgetown, KY and is $30.00 per month less expensive than the Mercury Milan - which is built in Mexico? Oh yeah - to start the lease with the Camry is $610 and the Milan is $1100+.

Jeez - I'd really love to keep my loyalty with domestic companies - but, they are sure are making it hard! If you figure the cost difference of the start ups and monthly payments - that is fuel for the boat for a season.

Darn car companies.

Made in Mexico with 50% content for the Milan vs made in the US with 75-80% US content with the Camry. I do not think you should feel guilty at all!!!

And yeah lease rates are CRAZY right now!!!

Just need to figure if you want to support the US worker or the US company. I wouldn't have any guilty feelings

How are you going to feel driving down the road in a Toyota. You will have to deal with it every day, If you feel comfortable driving a foreign car, then you should go for the better deal. I had a Mercedes lease for 3 years when I worked for DaimlerChrysler and I felt weird driving in it after the excitement wore off. It wasn’t so much at work cause a lot of employees at the time were jumping on some good lease deals they were offering us. It was on the road. Good luck.

Subject: Toyota trouble SUCH A GOOD CAR Toyota!!!!!!so you think!

Please watch the video & pass on to everyone!
You will first see a short commercial
Subject: The real cover up
In the last 3 years Toyota has had more recalls, defects, injuries and
deaths because of faulty vehicles than GM, Ford and Chrysler's five year
claims... combined! Actually... Toyota has had over 500,000 recalls in the
last year alone. The leader being the over priced, and over rated Lexus.

Imagine if these statistics were the other way around, GM Ford or Chrysler.
This would be front page news, radio talk shows and water cooling bashing
of North American auto workers. But with Toyota there is almost silence.
Almost...

I did not see these statistics on the front page and I wonder why? I am
not saying that the Japanese auto industry controls our media..... then
again... maybe I am?

There was excellent ABC media coverage and damaging information on Toyota
products and the real problem killing people.

For the prices you quoted to lease, why lease???? Buy the car... Buy the car with the American
name on the label... I don't buy into that high domestic content on the Toyota either.. Buy American..

So Ford's profits are made in Mexico at the expense of the American worker, yet they come back to the US to pay salaries of US employees and to invest in Mexican operations to make more profit there by not paying US wages or taxes... Toyota pays US wages and salaries and taxes but sends profits to Japan to invest in more US operatons... hmmmm. Pot/Kettle? The whole industry is messed up and we are all suffering from almost every direction because of it here in Detroit - I have to get a vehicle in a few months and I'm totally lost as well... but the Camry is ugly! lol You gotta do what's right for you, if the lower cost is an issue then no one should make you feel "guilty" for economic decision making. Maybe Stodge's Uncle can get you a better deal on Ford than you've seen so far? I've got a buddy who's a new vehicle broker, can get any make/model without all the "extra" costs that some dealers pack in... PM me if you'd like to speak with him, he's a great guy... no cost to you if you get it through him, he's paid like an outside sales rep by the dealer.

OMG we've already paid to rebuild their entire country 3 times over and funded their industries for 50 years, yes it was a terrible tragedy but from an economic standpoint how does that even matter any more?
