I wish Aquapalooza on LSC was even half of what it was Lake Martin in Alabama. What a boaters party!! 4,000+ boats with 35,000 boaters watching Alan Jackson on a floating stage. Wow.

Come on Sea Ray and Colony!
Have it on a Saturday with some real entertainment. Man Oh Man!

c'mon bill, you know damn well that if it EVER got that big and popular it would become jobbie-nooner 10.0 and eventually deteriorate into a drunken tittie fest with dj's yelling over their mr. microphones......

Bill, I was at the advisory committee this evening at MacRay and we are submitting to have the national party next year. It will take a big commitment from Colony Marine and alot of places vie for this but we are going to try. You just might get your wish.

I slightly disagree. I agree if you attempted an event like this in Muscamoot bay it would fail and turn into a JN 10.0. The Raft was a perfect example of that. If you take the Muscamoot element away and add some professional organization it would be a great party. Remember, I said half as good as that example would be awesome. I would love to see an actual poll taken in Muscamoot bay asking the question, "Where is Anchor Bay?" I would bet that the number of people who actually know is pretty low. This has all been stated before. Nothing new here. Oh well. Still would be cool.

very cool event and very well organized
all the mooring bouys were in place before the event
which probably made the raft off go smoothly

i agree we should be having events like this on our lake
obviously it would be hard to get the funding, because it appears
to be a free event,, you would have to make all the money
in advertising, or have a big sponsor

while im on a rant,, i think it its a shame we have all this waterway and no
real great destination places,, like put in bay, or even a hotel on the water for visiting guests
could you imagine putting a hotel on the lake with a clean beach and outdoor pool and tiki bars
and marina... i realize it would be very expensive, but it would do extreemly well

so in saying this i will share my great idea..... for the state of michigan,, SELL METRO BEACH to private investors,,, build a hotel on the point and then on all the property along the beach shorline from the point to the beach side ..add bars resturants and ice cream shops and stores ,,all built along a cool board walk, with outside entertainers and outdoor dining.. THIS IS A COMPLETLY WASTED RESOURCE .. metro has a ton of space to park boats as well as car traffic,, this place could be booked solid every weekend and week days,, it could be our equivelent
to put in bay very easily,,, without taking anything away anything from the actual park,

even if the state was to take this project and lease space,,, it would be a gold mine
and probably raise state tourism......

and before the people that live on the metro canal start to bitch,,, first off the buisness would be facing the bay beach side of metro therfore most of the music or noise would go in that direction
yes boat traffic would increase,,, but in the 80s early 90s you could walk across the boats
that canal was so busy.. if you did not get to metro by early saturday, you could not even get a spot on the sea wall,,, so that place is no stranger to traffic,, even at night the seawall was packed

i know this idea will never happen,,,michigan does not know how to make things happen......... but it would work.

I was thinking more this pic!! Water Water resources Green Nature Natural landscape

I'd be willing to bet that the lake in AL has mooring buoys like Lake Norman did for their Rafts. I dont see how you could get lines that even without.

yes, but behind them, they do not have a channel to contend with.
and the water is deep, they are not walikng around in it ( i assume it is deep) did not look it up yet.
and boater maturity and etiquette, they do have.

maybe the were told this before hand, and if they do not follow, leave? you never know.
