QUOTE(Deuce-Five @ Apr 21 2003, 03:07 PM)I dug this one up, looks like an artist rendering aerial. These on the web are small and low resolution. I'm trying to find a frameable photo or print.
I never knew there was a amusement park there......I'll ask my mother and father in law if they remember. Maybe Grandpa has some pictures, no promises though.

What are those black specks??? People? They are pretty far from shore.

Thanks Pampurred! Could you imagine that now??? I'd never make it to the bay...my girls would want to take the boat over there every weekend. I know that area was farm land.....times sure do change (as I'm learning today).

no prob... my mom's old boss had (has?) his boat there many years ago and I remembered him telling me about the amusement park. I looked it up awhile ago and found that page. Shows the destruction and everything.

In that photo the building with the red roof was the fun house. There was a mini train that took people through the building. As of about 6-7 yrs ago you could still see some of the tracks in the building (it has since burned down - probably about 4 years ago). The area where the dot or people are swimming are where the current docks were put in. They extended the area out into the lake quite a bit. Right at the front edge of the rollercoaster on the right hand side is the approximate location of the beach grill today.

This is absolutely one of the most fascinating things I've ever read on this board. I'm enthralled with the era's gone by in these city's we know only as they are~never would have ever imagined something so cool was so close to my house! That means the people who lived in my house back then most likely went to that park!

Anybody ever notice that dance floor? I am dying to have a look!

Awesome and thanks Pam!!!

I remember being in my mom's boss's boat in the winter... inside storage... and he'd point out some of the remnants of what used to be rides in there. It was cool. Remember the Brownies that used to dock there too? Not quite so long ago, but still very cool. When I was young that was just the most amazing thing I'd ever seen... inside and out.

Unfortunatly Pauligan, that was one of the buildings that "mysteriosly" burned down about 4-5 years ago. Nothting but open parking lot (hmmmm... I wonder if they planned the fire to collect insurance and make way for a new condominium high rise?)
